a loose group of engineers and tinkerers
for the curious few. you.
about
ObscureSignal is a group of problem-solvers and tinkerers who build hardware and software for people who want to know what's under the hood.
Most hardware is designed for the average buyer. We build for you, the power-user who wants to take it further.
We started out of frustration. The tools we needed didn't exist. We're still building them :)

values
Your hardware runs on your network. No cloud, no call-home, no kill switch. If it needs the internet to function, it's broken.
The products are open, documented, and meant to be extended. We build on open-source foundation and design for tinkerers, so they can go further without hitting a wall. The more you can do with it, the better we've done our job.
You bought it. It's yours ... fully, permanently. No subscriptions, no locked features, no ransom. We make money by building things worth buying.
Built to be opened, diagnosed, and fixed. Schematics included. Throwing away good hardware isn't a design philosophy, it's a failure.
Numbers measured under real conditions, not marketing conditions. If the range is 15 meters in a clear field and 4 meters through a concrete wall, we tell you both.
We don't ship until we're done. No "will be available in a future update." No launch-day bugs patched six months later. The version you buy is the version we meant to ship.
manifesto
You don't want products that do the thinking for you. You want tools that extend your own capability, something that responds to intent, not assumptions. Most products are built for a world where the user is a liability to be managed. We build for the opposite assumption: that you're smarter than the device, and deserve to be treated that way.
